Chinese driver assistance software developer Momenta will build advanced driver assistance systems for future Peugeot and Jeep models under a new cooperation with Dongfeng Stellantis Automotive Technology, the joint venture between Stellantis and Dongfeng Motor.

The systems will be based on Momenta's R7 World Model and are scheduled to reach production in several new electrified model lines from 2027. The rollout is not limited to China: the partners say the systems will also appear in vehicles sold in Europe.

The deal links one of China's most widely deployed ADAS software suppliers with the Stellantis-Dongfeng joint venture, which builds Peugeot, Citroën and other Stellantis-brand vehicles for the Chinese market at its plant in Wuhan. For Stellantis, the arrangement offers a path to Chinese-grade driver assistance technology without developing it in-house in Europe — a gap European OEMs have struggled to close as Chinese brands have pushed city-level assisted driving into mass-market segments.

Momenta, headquartered in Suzhou, has built its business on supplying automated and assisted driving software to a broad roster of Chinese and international manufacturers. Its technology stack, including the R7 World Model architecture announced for this program, is designed to handle full-scenario assisted driving. The company has positioned itself as a supplier of choice for foreign OEMs seeking ADAS capability in China, where local software content has become increasingly decisive for market competitiveness.

The 2027 timing gives the joint venture roughly two years to integrate the systems into its next generation of electrified Peugeot and Jeep models. That horizon also leaves open the question of regulatory qualification in Europe, where assisted driving functions face different approval and validation requirements than in China.

What to watch next: the first confirmed model line to carry the R7-based systems, the launch timing in China versus Europe, and whether Stellantis extends the Momenta partnership beyond the Dongfeng joint venture to its European-built vehicles.
