Mercedes-Benz gains preferential access to ProLogium Gen4 battery cells for testing
Mercedes-Benz expands ProLogium partnership, gains preferential access to Gen4 battery cells for comprehensive testing ahead of potential future vehicle applications.
Scope of change
- Mercedes-Benz has expanded its collaboration with battery maker ProLogium
- The automaker gains preferential access to ProLogium's new Gen4 battery technology
- Cells will undergo comprehensive testing for suitability in potential future vehicle applications

Mercedes-Benz has expanded its collaboration with Taiwanese battery manufacturer ProLogium, gaining preferential access to the supplier's new Gen4 battery cells. The automaker will now comprehensively test the cells to determine their suitability for potential future vehicle applications.
The partnership extension gives Mercedes-Benz early access to ProLogium's fourth-generation battery technology, allowing the German automaker to evaluate the cells ahead of other potential customers. Testing will focus on whether the cells meet the requirements for use in future Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
ProLogium, which specializes in solid-state battery technology, has been developing its Gen4 cells as part of its broader product roadmap. The company has been working to industrialize solid-state battery production, a technology that promises higher energy density and improved safety compared to conventional lithium-ion cells.
For Mercedes-Benz, the expanded collaboration represents another step in its battery technology strategy. The automaker has been pursuing multiple battery chemistry approaches to support its electrification plans, and gaining preferential access to next-generation cell technology could provide a competitive advantage as solid-state batteries move closer to commercialization.
The comprehensive testing phase will determine whether ProLogium's Gen4 cells can meet automotive requirements for durability, performance, and safety. No timeline for potential vehicle integration has been disclosed.
