Citroën targets €15,000 price for reborn 2 CV EV
Stellantis' Citroën shows the 2 CV Concept in Paris: a 3.76 m, roughly one-tonne EV targeting a €15,000 starting price, built in Europe within two years.
Scope of change
- Citroën targets a starting price of around €15,000 for the production 2 CV.
- Production model due within two years, manufactured in Europe.
- 2 CV Concept is 3.76 m long — shorter than the original 2 CV.
- Concept unveiled at the 2026 Paris Motor Show.
- Production version targeted at around one tonne kerb weight.

Citroën is targeting a starting price of around €15,000 for a production version of its reborn 2 CV, unveiled as a concept at the 2026 Paris Motor Show. The Stellantis brand says the production model arrives within the next two years, will be manufactured in Europe, and will comply with future E-Car regulations.
That price point is the hardest number in the story. It puts the model squarely in the budget-EV segment, where European volume OEMs have struggled to hit affordability targets without heavy incentive support.
At 3.76 m long, the 2 CV Concept is shorter than the original 2 CV. Citroën is also aiming for a production version weighing around a tonne — light by current EV standards, where compact electric hatchbacks typically run well above that figure.
What does the concept signal?
Citroën says the 2 CV Concept embodies the core values of the original model: affordability, lightness, practicality, versatility and a distinctive character. In other words, the brand is positioning it as a utility EV, not a halo showpiece.
Xavier Chardon, CEO of Citroën, framed the project as reinterpretation rather than retro reproduction. He said: "Reinventing the 2 CV isn't about replicating a car from a past; it's about reinventing what made it unique: its simplicity, its accessibility and the freedom it offered."
Chardon added: "With the 2 CV Concept, we're bringing that spirit into today's world to make electric mobility simpler, more human and more desirable. The world has changed. But the idea remains the same: to make life more beautiful with Citroën."
What does this change for buyers and plants?
For buyers, the €15,000 target signals a genuine entry-level EV from a mainstream European brand — a segment currently underserved. For manufacturing, the commitment to European production matters: Citroën has confirmed the intent to build the model in Europe but has not yet named a plant, allocated volumes or confirmed timing beyond the two-year window.
Treat the specs as announced intentions, not confirmed production data. The roughly one-tonne weight target is an aim, not a homologated figure. The €15,000 price is a stated goal that depends on battery cost curves and E-Car regulatory compliance costs.
What to watch next
The production debut within two years is the milestone to track. So is the plant announcement — which Stellantis site in Europe gets the program, and at what capacity. Watch also for the confirmed weight and range figures at reveal, and whether the €15,000 price survives to order books.
