Xpeng crosses 10,000-unit overseas threshold as G9L lands in Europe
Xpeng's September overseas sales topped 10,055 vehicles for the first time, up 100.94% YoY, as the Chinese automaker launched the G9L flagship SUV across five European markets with German entry at 74,600 euros.
Scope of change
- Xpeng overseas sales reached 10,055 vehicles in September, up 100.94% YoY, the first month above the 10,000-unit threshold
- G9L starts at 74,600 euros in Germany, 74,990 euros in France and Belgium, with launches also in Austria and the Netherlands
- European-spec G9L completed trial production on October 7 at Magna Steyr's Graz, Austria plant
- G9L is Xpeng's fourth model in European local production at Magna Steyr, joining the G6, G9 and P7+
- First 9-month overseas sales reached 59,479 vehicles, up 100.11% YoY, representing 20.92% of total deliveries of 284,367 units

Xpeng's overseas sales reached 10,055 vehicles in September, the Chinese EV maker's first month above the 10,000-unit threshold and a 100.94% year-on-year jump, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
The milestone coincided with the Monday launch of the G9L flagship SUV in Europe, on the opening day of the 2026 Paris Motor Show.
Starting prices are 74,600 euros in Germany, 74,990 euros in France and Belgium, 75,600 euros in Austria and 75,990 euros in the Netherlands. At an exchange rate of $1 to 0.8947 euros, the German entry price translates to roughly $83,370.
The European G9L comes only as a battery-electric vehicle in six-seat and seven-seat configurations, a deliberate departure from the five-seat layout sold in China since September 17, when the model debuted domestically in both battery-electric (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants.
The Chinese version measures 5,120 mm long, 1,999 mm wide and 1,782 mm tall, with a 3,100 mm wheelbase, dimensions Xpeng positions around rear-seat space and family-oriented comfort features.
Where is the G9L being built?
The European-spec G9L completed trial production on October 7 at Magna Steyr's contract manufacturing facility in Graz, Austria. The model becomes Xpeng's fourth line for local European assembly, joining the G6 SUV, G9 SUV and P7+ sedan already produced there.
Local production at Magna Steyr began in September 2025, using existing facilities operated by the contract manufacturer to scale the locally assembled lineup. Xpeng has not disclosed when mass production or European deliveries of the G9L will begin, nor what annual volume Magna Steyr will build.
What does the September sales data show?
Cumulative overseas sales for the first nine months reached 59,479 vehicles, up 100.11% from a year earlier, per CnEVPost. Overseas markets accounted for 20.92% of Xpeng's total deliveries, against 9.49% in the same period a year ago.
The export surge runs against the company's domestic decline. Total deliveries in the first nine months fell 9.20% year-on-year to 284,367 vehicles, leaving exports to carry a growing share of Xpeng's overall volume and shifting the burden of growth outside China.
What is the wider rollout plan?
Xpeng has said it plans to bring the G9L to 64 countries and regions. The automaker on October 11 launched the Mona L03 in Australia and New Zealand, its third model in both markets after the G6 and X9.
How does the G9L fit the European lineup?
Pricing places the G9L above volume-segment rivals and below premium European flagships, with the German entry at 74,600 euros undercutting comparable large electric SUVs from established German marques. The six- and seven-seat configurations target a segment with limited battery-electric options in Europe, where most family-oriented three-row SUVs remain diesel, hybrid or plug-in hybrid.
