NX Technologies, a specialist in EV power electronics, has secured a €1.9 million grant from Spain's PERTE program to fund the development of a series of innovative inverters for light electric vehicles. The R&D project is set to run through 2029.

The grant positions the company within Spain's broader industrial strategy for electric mobility, where PERTE funding has become a key instrument for supporting domestic EV supply chain development. For NX Technologies, the funding provides a multi-year runway to advance inverter technology specifically tailored to the light electric vehicle segment, which covers a growing market of two-, three- and four-wheeled electric vehicles.

Inverters, which convert the DC power stored in vehicle batteries into the AC power used by electric motors, represent a critical component in EV powertrains. Their efficiency directly affects vehicle range and performance, making them a focal point for R&D investment across the industry.

The €1.9 million award under the PERTE framework signals continued Spanish government support for companies working on EV components beyond the major OEM level. The program has previously directed funding toward battery production and charging infrastructure initiatives.

With the project timeline extending through 2029, NX Technologies faces a multi-year development cycle to deliver on its goal of creating a series of inverters for the light electric vehicle market. The company has not yet disclosed specific performance targets or commercialization plans for the resulting products.
