Solterra Technologies will open its new R&D facility in Bengaluru on September 18, 2026, anchoring its newly announced exclusive distribution agreement with Taiwanese power electronics supplier Sinpro Electronics Co. Ltd. for EV powertrain components in India.

The Ghaziabad-headquartered startup will distribute Sinpro's EV motors, motor controllers and DC-DC converters to Indian electric vehicle manufacturers and mobility customers under the deal. Sinpro, founded in 1995 in Taiwan, brings three decades of power electronics design experience; Solterra, founded in 2022, contributes its existing Indian distribution channels and local engineering presence.

Both sides framed the agreement in technology-transfer terms and pointed to integration support for Indian OEMs rather than a hard-volume commitment. No production volumes, plant capacity figures or revenue targets accompanied the announcement.

What does the partnership cover?

  • Distribution of Sinpro's EV motors, motor controllers and DC-DC converters in India
  • Integration and application engineering for Indian two-, three- and four-wheeler customers
  • Technical collaboration with OEMs and technology partners from the new Bengaluru office
  • Solterra-led local engineering, testing and product adaptation work

Where Solterra sits in the supply chain

Solterra's existing product base is concentrated in EV charging infrastructure. The company manufactures IP67-rated EV chargers for two-, three- and four-wheelers, alongside power modules, EV controllers and communication devices. It also runs a power electronics design and consultancy business serving automotive and industrial customers.

The Bengaluru R&D office — slated for September 18, 2026 inauguration — will support product development, engineering, testing and technology adaptation for the Indian market, the company said. The move extends Solterra upstream into powertrain components, an area where Indian Tier-2 suppliers remain underpenetrated despite the country's accelerating two- and three-wheeler electrification.

What Sinpro contributes

Sinpro Electronics designs and manufactures power electronics for industrial applications. Its EV powertrain portfolio — motors, motor controllers and DC-DC converters — targets global OEMs, and the Indian deal represents its first formal distribution tie-up in the country through Solterra.

Sagar Bose, Chief Technology Officer at Solterra Technologies, said the partnership complements the company's local engineering push: "India's EV industry is entering a phase where technology, performance and engineering capability will play an increasingly important role in shaping the next generation of mobility. Our exclusive partnership with Sinpro Electronics allows us to expand our technology portfolio with proven EV powertrain solutions, including motors, motor controllers and DC-DC converters."

Bill Su, EV Powertrain Leader at Sinpro Electronics, framed India as a priority market: "India represents one of the most important and dynamic markets for electric mobility, with significant opportunities for technology innovation and industry growth. Through our exclusive partnership with Solterra Technologies, we are bringing Sinpro's EV powertrain technologies closer to Indian OEMs and mobility companies."

What to watch next

  • The September 18, 2026 Bengaluru inauguration, where headcount, lab capabilities and any pilot customer disclosure are expected
