Stellantis ships 1.286 million vehicles in Q3, down 1% on year

Stellantis shipped 1.286 million vehicles in Q3, down 1% year-on-year. North America fell 47,000 units on production pauses; Enlarged Europe added 54,000, with Leapmotor nearly quadrupling to 44,000.

Scope of change

  1. Stellantis Q3 consolidated shipments fell 1% year-on-year to 1.286 million units from 1.300 million
  2. North American shipments dropped 12%, or 47,000 units, to 357,000, including ~25,000-unit output cuts each for Jeep Grand Cherokee and Compass
  3. Enlarged Europe grew 10%, or 54,000 units, to 588,000, helped by Smart Car platform models (~26,000 units) and EVs from Stellantis and Leapmotor
  4. Leapmotor deliveries rose roughly 34,000 units to 44,000 on B10 and B03X rollouts
  5. Türkiye shipments fell ~21,000 units ahead of local small-van assembly starting October 2026

Stellantis shipped 1.286 million consolidated vehicles in the quarter ended 30 September — 14,000 units, or 1%, fewer than the 1.300 million it managed a year earlier. The topline looks almost flat. The regional arithmetic underneath it is anything but.

North America and the Middle East & Africa took the hits. Enlarged Europe grew fast enough to cover most, though not all, of the damage.

Where did the 14,000 units go?

North American shipments fell 12%, or 47,000 units, to 357,000. That's the biggest single drag on the quarter, and Stellantis says it was largely self-inflicted: planned summer production pauses cut roughly 25,000 units each from the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Compass.

Ram softened the blow. Deliveries rose about 17,000 units on demand for updated models and broader powertrain choice — specifically the new Ram 1500 TRX and the Ram 1500 light-duty HEMI V8. Useful, but barely a third of the North American shortfall.

The Middle East & Africa division dropped 21%, or 20,000 units, to 75,000. Türkiye accounted for about 21,000 of that on its own — softer trading and reduced import dispatches ahead of local small-van assembly starting in October 2026. Growth in Algeria and Morocco more than offset declines in the conflict-affected Gulf Cooperation Council territories, which is the one genuinely structural bright spot in the region.

South America slipped roughly 1,000 units. Brazil added 13,000; Argentina took away 11,000 on weak market conditions. Asia-Pacific fell about 6% to 15,000 units on soft Japanese demand, tempered by gains in India.

Put plainly: two regions chose to slow down, and the others couldn't quite make up the difference.

What carried Enlarged Europe?

Enlarged Europe grew 10%, or 54,000 units, to 588,000 — the quarter's engine room. The gains came from a short, legible list:

  • Smart Car platform models — Citroën C3, C3 Aircross, Opel/Vauxhall Frontera, Fiat Grande Panda — contributed roughly 26,000 units
  • The new Fiat 500 Hybrid generated around 6,000 units
  • The new Jeep Compass added about 5,000
  • Light commercial vehicles rose about 7,000, led by electric variants
  • Battery electric vehicles from Stellantis and Leapmotor underpinned the division's overall expansion

Not everything cooperated. A combined 28,000-unit decrease spread across the Opel Corsa, Opel Mokka, Citroën C4, Alfa Romeo Junior and Peugeot 2008 clawed back a meaningful slice of the platform-driven gains.

The takeaway: the affordable-car strategy is working, and the older B-segment metal is paying for it.

What about Leapmotor?

Leapmotor brand deliveries rose by roughly 34,000 units to 44,000 — close to a quadrupling, on the back of B10 and B03X rollouts. In a quarter where the parent brand's global volume fell, its Chinese partner brand did most of the growing.

There's more India in the plan, too. Earlier this month, Stellantis and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles agreed to develop vehicles for more than 50 global markets and manufacture them in India. That's an announced intention, not yet a production number; treat it accordingly.

Leapmotor is no longer a rounding error in this company's volume story.

What to watch next

The October 2026 start of local small-van assembly in Türkiye should reverse part of that 21,000-unit dispatch drop. Meanwhile, North America's recovery depends on whether the Grand Cherokee and Compass pauses were purely scheduled or whether inventory discipline is doing quiet work — the Q4 shipment figure will tell you.

And the Tata agreement's first concrete model announcements are worth diarising. India-built vehicles for 50-plus markets is a capacity plan with no capacity number attached yet.

The next quarterly shipment report settles it.
