Stellantis burns €4bn cash but sticks to 2026 guidance

Stellantis posted a €4bn negative industrial cash flow in Q3 but reaffirmed guidance, with VCP savings set to double in Q4 on the road to €6bn in efficiencies.

Scope of change

  1. Q3 2026 industrial free cash flow was negative €4.0bn, worse than analyst expectations.
  2. Adjusted operating income tripled to €0.3bn; net loss narrowed to €0.5bn from €4.5bn.
  3. Stellantis targets at least 40% of €6bn VCP run-rate efficiencies implemented by end-2026.
  4. VCP savings of mid-hundreds of millions of euros expected in Q4 2026, roughly double Q3.
  5. DPCA completed a loan-to-equity conversion in September 2026, enabling two new Jeep and two new Peugeot models.

Stellantis posted a €4.0 billion negative industrial free cash flow in Q3 2026, worse than analyst expectations, yet reaffirmed its full-year guidance on the back of accelerating cost cuts under its €6 billion Value Creation Program.

Net revenues rose 1.0% year-over-year to €37.6 billion. The net loss narrowed sharply to €0.5 billion, against €4.5 billion in the prior-year quarter. Adjusted operating income (recurring profit excluding one-offs) tripled to €0.3 billion from €0.1 billion a year earlier.

CEO Antonio Filosa said the cost machine is ramping. "During the quarter, we continued to make progress in the early execution of our FaSTLAne 2030 plan, launching new products, accelerating partnerships as planned, and delivering meaningful improvements in manufacturing and quality," he said.

He pointed to the VCP as the engine. "Our Value Creation Program (VCP) has ramped up rapidly, with positive contributions being recognized in the quarter, and we remain on track to implement at least 40% of the total €6 billion in run-rate efficiencies by the end of this year. As a result, we reaffirm our 2026 guidance, and our expectation of positive Industrial Free Cash Flow in 2027."

What does this change for the plants?

Not much yet on the shop floor — but the savings curve matters. Stellantis said VCP savings should keep accelerating, "realizing mid-hundreds of millions of euros in Q4 '26, approx. double the amount realized in Q3 '26."

If that holds, at least €2.4 billion of the €6 billion run-rate target will be implemented by year-end. That's the milestone to track against the 2027 cash-flow turnaround promise.

Regional sales picture

North America: Q3 sales up 1% versus Q3 2025. U.S. and Canada each slipped 0.3%; Mexico jumped 24%, or 28% including Leapmotor. U.S. sales beat an industry down 0.8%, carried by Ram 1500 (up 73%), Dodge Durango (up 14%) and Chrysler Pacifica (up 6%).

EU30 (European Union plus UK, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland): sales up 1%, or 6% including Leapmotor. The Citroën-branded Smart Car line rose 36% year-over-year, and BEV demand grew in France, Germany and the UK. Passenger-car BEV sales climbed 65% — 93% with Leapmotor included. Leapmotor's own sales grew nearly four-fold against the prior year.

Asia-Pacific: sales fell 27%, or 22% including Leapmotor, driven, Stellantis said, "primarily by a decline in the Citroën C5X."

The quarter did bring tangible manufacturing news in Asia. Malaysian production of the Leapmotor C10 and B10 started. Dongfeng Stellantis Automotive Technology (Wuhan) Co. (DSAT) was established. And Dongfeng Peugeot Citroën Automobile Co. (DPCA) completed a shareholder loan-to-equity conversion in September 2026, which Stellantis said allows the "development and expansion of two new Jeep and two new Peugeot models."

What to watch next

Three checkpoints. Q4 2026: does VCP actually deliver mid-hundreds of millions in savings, double Q3's run rate? Year-end: the 40% implementation threshold on €6 billion. And 2027: the promised swing to positive industrial free cash flow — the number that will decide whether Filosa's turnaround is real.

A fourth: whether the Wuhan JV's Jeep and Peugeot programs move from announced intention to confirmed production timing.
