Mercedes-Benz to add GLC BEV to Thai assembly line at TAAP
Mercedes-Benz Thailand will launch the locally assembled GLC BEV later this year, the second MB.EA model built at TAAP with an 85 kWh locally assembled battery pack.
Scope of change
- Mercedes-Benz Thailand plans to launch the locally assembled GLC BEV later this year
- The GLC is the second MB.EA-based model built at the Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant in Samut Prakan after the CLA250, which entered production in early 2026
- The GLC uses the MB.EA-M platform, an 85 kWh locally assembled battery pack, over 600 km range and 15–16 kWh/100 km consumption

Mercedes-Benz Thailand plans to launch a locally assembled GLC battery-electric SUV later this year, adding a second model on the carmaker's MB.EA architecture to the Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant in Samut Prakan province.
The plant, owned by Thailand's Thonburi Group, began building the CLA250 — the first model on the new Mercedes-Benz Electric Architecture — at the start of 2026. The GLC, unveiled this week, follows as the second MB.EA-based model produced in Thailand. The company already assembles the EQS range at the site.
The GLC BEV rides on the MB.EA-M platform and draws power from an 85 kWh lithium-ion battery pack assembled locally. Mercedes-Benz quotes a driving range of over 600 km and estimates average energy consumption at 15–16 kWh per 100 km.
The launch also marks the Thai debut of Mercedes-Benz's MB.OS operating system, which manages the vehicle's digital and connected functions. The GLC features a 39-inch MBUX Hyperscreen stretching across the dashboard.
Mercedes-Benz Thailand frames the GLC as part of its effort to strengthen its position in the region's fast-growing BEV market. The company has not disclosed production volumes or capacity figures for the new line.
What to watch: the GLC's market launch in Thailand later this year, and whether TAAP discloses output targets for the second MB.EA model.
