Li Auto hits 200,000 i6 units produced, targets 20,000-a-month capacity

Li Auto has produced 200,000 Li i6 SUVs and targets 20,000 units of monthly capacity in November, as September deliveries fell 56.54 percent ahead of the 2026 model launch.

Scope of change

  1. Li Auto has produced 200,000 Li i6 SUVs cumulatively, announced November 7 by product line head Li Xinyang.
  2. i6 capacity is planned to reach 20,000 units in November, with a further unnamed increase in December.
  3. September i6 deliveries fell 56.54 percent month-on-month to 7,379 units.
  4. Deliveries of the 2026 Li i6 began October 29 at a starting price of 249,800 yuan ($37,210).
  5. The Li 6 goes on sale in Norway and the Netherlands in Q1 2027.

Li Auto has built 200,000 units of its Li i6 battery electric SUV and plans to lift monthly capacity to 20,000 units in November, with a further increase promised for December. Li Xinyang, the company's product line head, announced both figures on Weibo on Friday. The production milestone lands roughly 13 months after the five-seat SUV went on sale in September 2025.

The claim covers cumulative production, not deliveries. That distinction matters. Cumulative i6 deliveries stood at 189,192 by the end of September, leaving a gap of nearly 11,000 units between vehicles built and vehicles handed over, according to CnEVPost data.

What did the 2026 model change?

Li Auto launched the updated 2026 Li i6 on October 28. Deliveries across China began October 29. The company kept the official starting price unchanged at 249,800 yuan ($37,210) while upgrading three core components:

  • The in-house developed Mach M100 driver-assistance chip, fitted as standard
  • A 96-kWh Lianshan 5C lithium iron phosphate battery
  • Upgraded cabin features, plus a rear-wheel-drive CLTC range now rated at 780 kilometers (485 miles)

Buyers who order on or before November 30 get introductory pricing of 239,800 yuan — 10,000 yuan below the official sticker. That discount signals competitive pressure, not pricing power.

Why is the ramp-up needed?

September i6 deliveries totaled 7,379 units, down 56.54 percent from August. The model accounted for 23.19 percent of Li Auto's total deliveries that month, according to CnEVPost. The decline preceded the model changeover, so the update gives Li Auto a chance to reverse the slide.

Current order wait times run 7 to 8 weeks. Li said the company prepared vehicles for near-term delivery in advance and has accelerated the production ramp-up. Customers ordering now can take delivery before the end of the year, he said.

The December capacity increase remains an intention, not a confirmed figure. Li disclosed no target number for it.

Where does the i6 fit in Li Auto's plans?

The i6 carries weight beyond China. Li Auto announced on October 12 that the model, branded Li 6 in Europe, will go on sale and begin deliveries in Norway and the Netherlands in the first quarter of 2027. That timeline is more than a year out, and European volume expectations were not disclosed.

The i6 also anchors Li Auto's battery electric line as the company continues to lean on extended-range models. Li said on Friday that cumulative production of the Li L6 extended-range SUV has reached 420,000 units. The L6 has topped sales among extended-range models for 2 consecutive months, he said.

First-nine-month i6 deliveries came to 160,221 units this year. Sustaining that pace requires the November capacity target to hold.

What to watch next

Three markers will test the ramp-up. First, whether November output actually reaches 20,000 units — Li Auto has not published monthly production figures, so CnEVPost delivery data will serve as the proxy. Second, whether wait times shorten from the current 7 to 8 weeks as the 2026 model reaches customers. Third, the December capacity increase, which currently has no attached number and no date beyond the month itself. (Exchange rate: $1 = 6.7138 yuan.)
