Tsuyo Wins US$3.2 Million Annual IPM Motor Order from Indian OEM
Greater Noida-based Tsuyo lands a 10-year, US$3.2 million-per-year IPM motor supply programme from an unnamed Indian OEM for electric three-wheelers.
Scope of change
- Programme worth approximately US$3.2 million annually, expected to run 10 years
- IPM motors supplied for electric three-wheelers; OEM name undisclosed
- HRE-free PMSM claims maximum system efficiency of up to 93%
- Tsuyo reports 200,000+ motors sold to more than 50 OEMs
- Company operates two manufacturing facilities in Greater Noida
Tsuyo Manufacturing Pvt. Ltd. has secured a business programme worth approximately US$3.2 million annually from an Indian OEM for the supply of Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) motors for electric three-wheelers.
The programme is expected to run for 10 years, covering motor supply, technical assistance, servicing and after-sales support. The company has not disclosed the name of the OEM — a notable gap that leaves the claim unverifiable against production data for now.
What motor has Tsuyo developed for the programme?
The motor is a Heavy Rare Earth (HRE)-free Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with an Interior Permanent Magnet rotor architecture. According to the company, it delivers a maximum system efficiency of up to 93%. Technical features include:
- Hall Effect feedback
- Air-cooling system
- IP65 protection rating, excluding the connector
The HRE-free magnet design matters for cost and supply-chain resilience, as it removes dependence on heavy rare earth materials such as dysprosium and terbium — though the company's efficiency and architecture claims remain its own.
Who is Tsuyo Manufacturing?
The Greater Noida-based company develops electric motors, controllers and powertrain systems spanning 0.5 kW to 400 kW. Its applications cover electric three-wheelers, commercial vehicles (LCVs and MHCVs) and off-road equipment. Tsuyo operates two manufacturing facilities in Greater Noida and reports having sold more than 200,000 motors to over 50 OEMs. It was also among 30 Indian startups selected to participate in VivaTech 2026.
Prashant Ranjan, Director – In-charge, Sales & Services, Tsuyo Manufacturing, said: "Securing a 10-year programme with a leading Indian OEM is a significant milestone for Tsuyo and reflects the trust and confidence our customers place in our engineering, manufacturing and lifecycle support capabilities. A programme of this scale requires consistent product quality, dependable supply, responsive technical support and strong after-sales capabilities throughout the vehicle lifecycle. We are focused on building these capabilities."
He added that the company's long-term objective is "to develop and supply reliable, locally engineered electric powertrain solutions that are designed around the specific requirements of Indian OEMs and operating conditions."
What does the deal signal for the Indian supply base?
A decade-long annual contract valued at roughly US$3.2 million points to sustained, mid-volume three-wheeler motor demand rather than a single spike. For a Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier of Tsuyo's scale, it anchors production planning at both Greater Noida plants for the long term. The localization angle is equally relevant: locally engineered powertrains aligned to Indian operating conditions remain a priority for domestic OEMs seeking supply security and cost control.
The undisclosed customer, however, limits what the trade can verify. Annual revenue of US$3.2 million implies tens of thousands of motor units depending on pricing — a volume the buyer's three-wheeler output should eventually confirm.
What to watch next
Watch for the OEM's identity to surface as the programme ramps, for start-of-production timing tied to the buyer's three-wheeler line, and for Tsuyo to report capacity or headcount adjustments at its two Greater Noida facilities as volumes build.
