Musashi India to Supply e-Axles for Bhago Mobility 3W From 2027
Musashi Auto Parts India has signed an LOI to supply e-Axles for Bhago Mobility's fixed-battery Bhago Bhim three-wheeler, with production planned for 2027 from Bangalore.
Scope of change
- Musashi Auto Parts India signed an LOI with Bhago Mobility Solutions to supply 3W e-Axles for the fixed-battery variant of the Bhago Bhim passenger three-wheeler platform.
- Production is planned to begin in 2027, with manufacturing supported by Musashi's Bangalore plant; no volumes were disclosed.
- Musashi CEO Naoya Nishimura claims electrification accounted for more than 60% of India's three-wheeler retail sales in 2025.

Production of Musashi Auto Parts India's e-Axles for Bhago Mobility's upcoming three-wheeler platform is planned to start in 2027, supported by Musashi's Bangalore plant. The timing anchors a Letter of Intent (LOI) the two companies signed covering electric powertrain supply for the fixed-battery variant of Bhago Mobility's passenger three-wheeler platform, Bhago Bhim™.
The deal is an LOI, not a confirmed production contract, and no volume figures were disclosed. What is on paper: Musashi will supply 3W e-Axles for the fixed-battery variant of the Bhago Bhim platform, which is being developed in both battery-swap and fixed-battery configurations for passenger mobility applications. The e-Axle will integrate key electric powertrain components for three-wheeler use, and the companies state the units will be manufactured in India as part of a localization push for the Indian market.
Beyond the initial fixed-battery passenger application, the two companies plan to explore additional configurations of the Bhago Bhim platform — including cargo and battery-swapping variants — as well as potential applications in other mobility systems.
The platform itself is being developed with a connected architecture incorporating IoT and telematics. The stated intent is to support predictive diagnostics, maintenance scheduling and remote software updates. Vehicle parameters, including powertrain, battery and vehicle-health data, are expected to be monitored to identify potential issues and support vehicle uptime.
Naoya Nishimura, Chief Executive Officer of Musashi India & Africa Region, framed the agreement as part of the supplier's broader India strategy. "This LOI with Bhago Mobility marks another important step in Musashi's journey to strengthen its presence as an electric powertrain system supplier in India," Nishimura said. "With electrification already accounting for more than 60% of India's three-wheeler retail sales in 2025, the segment is at the forefront of India's transition to electric mobility. Leveraging Japanese technology, quality and trusted engineering expertise, our locally manufactured e-Axle solution is designed to support OEMs in delivering efficient, reliable and scalable electric vehicles. We look forward to building a strong and long-term relationship with Bhago Mobility."
His 60% electrification figure for three-wheeler retail sales in 2025 is a supplier-side claim; industry watchers will want to check it against registration data before treating it as settled fact.
Aditya Goyal, Founder and Managing Director of Bhago Mobility Solutions Private Limited, emphasized an existing relationship with Musashi. "Our association with Musashi goes back many years, and our confidence in Musashi's engineering — the precision, the reliability and the discipline behind it — is the foundation on which the fixed-battery variant of Bhago Bhim™ is being built," Goyal said. "Bhago Bhim™ is being engineered to set a new benchmark for passenger three-wheelers in India — in ride quality, safety and total cost of ownership for the driver-owner. Musashi's locally manufactured e-Axle brings that engineering to the heart of the vehicle. Together with our partners across the electric mobility ecosystem, we are building an L5 platform designed for India's roads and India's micro-entrepreneurs, with production commencing in 2027."
The Goyal quote confirms the platform targets the L5 category — India's low-speed, three-wheeled passenger segment that dominates last-mile mobility in cities.
The agreement extends a pattern for Musashi in India. The Japanese tier-one has already placed its e-Axle technology in the domestic two-wheeler space, with Emobi's electric two-wheeler AKX using Musashi e-Axle technology. The Bhago deal would move the supplier deeper into the three-wheeler segment, where electrified retail share is already the highest of any vehicle category in India.
What to watch next: whether the LOI converts into a binding supply agreement with disclosed volumes ahead of the 2027 production start; whether Musashi's Bangalore plant needs new capacity or tooling investment to support the program; and whether the cargo and battery-swap variants of the Bhago Bhim platform firm up as additional Musashi applications.
